Our story

Cav. Carlo Marta founded the company in 1929 by taking over the Bologna branch of Manifatture Martiny based in Turin, specialized in industrial insulators.The company was set up in order to broaden the interest in many technical articles that were required by the growing emilian agriculture and by the nascent industry.

From the first moment, particoular attention was paid to the vast rubber market and its uses. In those years the production of rubber objects ranged from raincoats to technical articles, from shoe heels to hoses. It was precisely this last sector that was the subject of particular care by the company, which since that moment began to cooperate with the Pirelli Group for rubber hoses, subsequently expanding the collaboration also for rubber sheets, moldings, protective articles and belts.

In the past, the belts used were mainly made of leather, as can be seen from the vintage photo next to it, and it is for this reason that the MARTA company marketed them in both materials: leather and rubber.

Since its foundation, the company has gone through several significant steps, including:
1940 Introduction of sale of rubber belts;
1950 Introduction of PVC hoses;
1960 First importer in Italy of PVC spiral hoses;
1980 Introduction of plastic semi-finished products and purchase of the panel saw machine;
1990 Introduction the polyurethane belts and cutters for sleeves
1997 the company is ISO certified;
2005 Waterjet machine for designed to machine gaskets;
2012 Development of worked belts and first deals with foreign companies;
2014 Pantograph for plastics processing

Over the years, with the development of the business, it became necessary to change location.
The historical headquarters of the MARTA company was in Via dei Mille in Bologna but, due to the air raids of 1945, the company moved to Via Cesare Battisti in the historic center of the city.

Subsequently, the company moved to Via Lenzi near the Palazzo dello Sport and again in Via Zanardi, anyway remaining in the Bologna's area. In 2000, to celebrate the new century, a warehouse of over 3000 m² was built in the municipality of Sala Bolognese that respects all the features and functionality necessary to carry out the trade and consultancy of plastic and rubber products in a modern way and respectful of the quality of work.
